SET3 at AFCOM Tampa Chapter Meeting

Key Takeaways
SET3 joined the AFCOM Tampa Chapter meeting to explore energy-saving tech like TSO Logic’s monitoring software—helping data centers cut power use and costs.
IMG_1793On March 23, Jeffrey and Russell of SET3 attended the AFCOM Tampa Chapter meeting in the Siemens Building at EPCOT. (Siemens also sponsored the event.) While there, they met with engineers and developers who are making it easier for data center managers to control their costs and usage.

One of the products featured at the meeting is from TSO Logic. They wrote software that allows data center managers to monitor a variety of activity occurring on their servers, including how often they’re used, how much power is used, peak times, and so on. Because of these monitoring capabilities, data center managers can make better capacity planning decisions, such as moving applications to under-utilized servers and turning off servers that aren’t being used. This will lead to great savings in both power and money for those managers.

SET3 recommends anyone who is in the data center management position to join their local AFCOM chapter. Special thanks to AFCOM Tampa for inviting us to be a part of the meeting and to Siemens for sponsoring the event.
